Ale
Don't forget to get your tickets for the 6th
Best-ever Pigs Ear Kentish Horse Folk Ale on 30/31 May-1
June!
If you've already done it -
thanks, look forward to seeing you! If you haven't, you can book on line at www.folkale.co.uk or send a cheque payable
to S. Rule, Folk Ale, 124 High Street, Edenbridge, Kent TN8 5AY.
Weekend
tickets (including camping) cost £20 until after the May bank holiday (26th
May), after which you'll have to buy them on the door at a cost of £25. Tickets
for Saturday night cost £10. Please note
that you must hold a weekend ticket to camp at the Kentish Horse. For the less hardy, we have a list of local b&bs -
email pigsear_at_mac_dot_com for a copy.
As usual, we have some 30 different performers taking part, everything
from Americana (The Wilderness Family) to Breton bagpipes (Drohne). There is
however a decidedly English flavour to this year's Ale, with original songs from
the brilliant Singing Loins, comedy from Shep Woolley and of course the
excellent Young Coppers keeping alive the singing tradition of their Sussex farming
family.
We have Border morris from Wild Hunt, and rapper from Greengate
Rapper. There's also a chance for you to work off the beer learning maypole
dances. Forget the post-Victorian reserve and get working on the old fertility
rites! (Oh, and that reminds me - congratulations to Ty & Ayesha on the
arrival of young Freddie! I don't think he'll be playing at this year's
festival, but brother Dylan might be back on the drums...)
John Barden
will be running the usual lively singarounds, and we'll have the late-night
acoustic happenings on Friday and Saturday night, plus "regulars" like Wasps in
the Woodshed, A Band Called Dave, Andy Smythe, Les Elvin...
Value for
money or what....? If you haven't got your ticket yet, do it now!
