- gosh that went quickly! After five years spreading the mantra of "New
Folk, Old Folk and No Folk", The Magpies Nest have firmly established
themselves as the leading purveyors of quality new, traditional and roots
music throughout venues across London, and national and international
festivals. Come and help us blow out the candles with the ?zestful,
vibrant, multi-national North Sea sound' of Fribo and the improvised

Sunday
3rd April is set to witness a fantastic line-up of modern folk and twisted
popular music spread across three performance spaces at London's newest venue
XOYO. Topping the bill is current BBC Folk Award Singer of the Year Chris
Wood, in a unique collaboration with Dizraeli And the Small Gods
for what is sure to be a wonderfully unique meeting of musical minds. Also
included in the line-up are the melodies and rich instrumentation of The
Black Atlantic, bluegrass band Kidnap Alice, Birmingham's
Americana-tinged Goodnight Lenin, Hackney-based land-locked
seafarers The City Shanty Band and free-improv marvels Firefly.

Magpie's Nest is also delighted to announce 2 days of revelling in the ancient
customs of songs, stories and dancing: Cultura Obscura in association
with the Southbank Centre, and part of The Festival Of Britain. This is
your chance to partake in every aspect of creating, dancing and enacting a very
British - yet universal - experience on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May. See the website for
