FLOOK NEWS

Flook are awarded BEST GROUP at the BBC Folk Awards 2006!! Last night the folk world got together at The Brewery in London to celebrate and acknowledge the past year in music. It was a mighty grand affair, with lavish food and drink before the award ceremony began, and performances from some of the nominees. We were there, as one of the four nominated bands for 'Best Group' and we were playing also, midway through the ceremony, so we had to behave ourselves and try not let the nerves unsettle us - quite difficult in a room full of folk music's biggest stars! So we sat and we soaked up the occasion until it came to the Best Group award ... and when our name rang out as the winners of the
2006 award, we rose and made that long dizzy walk through the crowd, big smiles exploding all over our faces. What a thrill! We were a bit dumb struck, to say the least, so our acceptance speech was almost non-existent. So, here goes... Thank you to all of you, our audiences around the world - without you we wouldn't be out there, Thank You to everyone who voted for us, and a very big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us along the way - you know who you are - too numerous to mention, but not forgetting Becky and Kit for getting us started, Mike McGoldrick, John Murray, John Mac and Captain Stevie for being 3 of the best sound men in the business, the very wonderful Mark Tucker who records our albums, Adrian at Rabblerouser, the Ians and Richard at Cadiz who distribute our CDs, John Holman for all his hard work on the website, Sarah's Dad who keeps the show on the road when the show are on the road, and across the pond, Rene at World Village, Cindy Byram, and Matt and Mitch at Folklore,

All other news has been temporarily overshadowed today, but please check the website (and see below for details) for newly added USA dates in Alexandria VA, San Francisco, Mt Vernon WA, Bellingham WA, and Madison WI. Also, if you are planning to come to our gig in Portland, Oregon, please check with Brongaene Griffin brongaenegriffin_at_hotmail_dot_com as there is likely to be a change of venue. Upcoming UK dates are also included below. There will be no Flook News in March as we'll be away for the entire month.
