Broadstairs Folk Week runs from 11th – 18th August, and the organisers have once again produced a programme which manages to offer something for everyone, from the dedicated folkie to the not so sure Goth, from the blues afficionado to the Cajun lover. With 540 events this year, the week’s season ticket seems a terrific bargain at £123 [averaging out at 27.8p per event!] especially when you see some of the top names in the Folk world, including Seth Lakeman, Coope Boyes & Simpson, Last Night’s Fun, the Demon Barber Roadshow, Whapweasel, Florida, T & la Touche……the list goes on.

Workshops again have a high priority in the Festival, and this year’s “Mouth Music” includes the opportunity to join COOPE BOYES & SIMPSON’s choir workshops and perform their SEA OF VOICES or write and perform a 10 minute opera with QUICKSILVER. The music workshops include no less than eleven guitar workshops, including Irish guitar with Tim Edey, Acoustic guitar with Bruce Mathiske and Flatpicking with Chris Moreton . For dancers with itchy feet we can offer dance from A to Z - literally with Appalachian and Zydeco, and all points in between – Contra, English Clog, Canadian West Coast Stepping……

Shooting Roots return to run their great workshops for the 12-25 age group, ensuring a supply of musicians for the future, plus Mick Scott’s children’s workshops this year will result in a performance of Star Wars – The Musical at the end of the week.

There are still a few vacancies for workforce – so if you really fancy coming to a great Festival but are a bit strapped for cash, or want to test out a great way of making new friends, give us a call or look on the website.
