We've had a last-minute place cancellation for Martin Carthy's guitar and song workshop on Saturday 10th. June at the Lewes Arms. The people on the waiting-list are unable to take up at this notice. Full details are below: email me or ring, don't just turn up in case someone else has got in first. There is an evening ticket to go with it

            Martin Carthy is unsurpassed as a performer of English traditional song & dance music. It is impossible to over-estimate his influence on at least two generations of singers & players. In the workshop pupils will work by ear on a Morris tune & a song collected from George Maynard. The possibilities of CGCDGA guitar tuning will be discussed & demonstrated.

IN THE EVENING MARTIN CARTHY PERFORMS AT THE LEWES ARMS FOLK CLUB
(Admission £6)

10.45    Registration & coffee; order lunch

            (Refreshments are not included.)

11.00   In preparation learn a Morris tune, preferably in Martin’s tuning of CGCDGA

13.00   Lunch

14.00     Accompanying a recording of George Maynard’s song ‘Our Captain Cries All Hands’.

15.30     Tea/coffee break

16.00 - 16.45   Discussion & demonstration of possibilities in the tuning.
