Subject: Tim van Eyken added to guest list for Tenterden Folk Festival 2006

Tenterden Folk Festival 2006

6th to 8th October

Tim van Eyken added to guest list

Tim van Eyken is one of a new generation of exciting young folk musicians.  He won the 1998 BBC Radio Two Young Folk Award and has already cut out a glittering career based on his  passion for traditional English music so is an ideal guest for Tenterden Folk Festival where our emphasis is always on the best of English music.

Tim works with various groups and bands including the top English traditional group Waterson:Carthy, whose members include Martin Carthy, Norma Waterson and their daughter Eliza Carthy.  Tim is also a member of Dr Faustus and works as a duo with Robert Harbron, so there are not a great number of opportunities to see him performing solo so do not miss him at Tenterden.

Five years of touring and recording with Waterson:Carthy has not only honed his instrumental skills but also seen him develop in to one of the most assured and captivating young singers around and according to The Daily Telegraph is “one of Britain’s great young hopes”.  He will have a new solo album due out in the very near future and fRoots Magazine’s Colin Irwin says it is “Strikingly natural, beautifully recorded and sparingly presented".

(More information and photos of Tim can be found at http://www.timvaneyken.co.uk/.)
