WOODS INTRODUCES LIVE MUSIC ON FRIDAY EVENINGS
Woods Restaurant & Wine Bar, in The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells, renowned for its Thursday jazz evenings, is also to host live music on Fridays from 4th August. The move coincides with the international arts and music festival – SpaFest www.spafest.co.uk.
Every Friday night in Woods will have an original, well established, acoustic singer/songwriter playing in the downstairs restaurant.
“The emphasis will be on quality performances that enhance the dining experience,” explains operations manager, Claire Wood.
The ambience will be a relaxed, candlelit, “club” type atmosphere, where diners can extend their evening following a meal from Woods’ modern English menu of locally sourced, seasonal dishes.
“We will also be placing “music menus” on each table so that each customer can choose tracks from the menu for the musicians to play,” said Claire.
The musicians will begin playing at 8.00pm and finish at 11.00pm. There is no extra charge to the customer for the entertainment.
With a different singer each week of the month, the first act is Gez an original and well established local singer/songwriter, with a blend of classic and contemporary acoustic folk and rock music. Gez writes melodic folk, with influences of Paul Simon, John Martyn and Radiohead, often with a comic twist. He is also known for Beatles, Coldplay, Neil Young and Bob Dylan covers.
On 11th August, Clea, one half of Maidstone-based Mooli, will perform her own blend of rock, triphop and soul. Mooli, who recently toured with Jah Wobble, use acoustic guitars and rich vocals to produce a rich soulful sound, creating haunting melodies that are happy to coexist with electronica and a deep bass.
18th August sees the introduction of Charlotte and Marc Brereton from London based band The Original Sinners. The seasoned chemistry of brother and sister bring grimy depths of southern rock and blues fused with sweet country melodies.
Gez returns to Woods on 25th August.
