WINTER TALES
Festival of Stories
26th - 28th January 2007
Small
Beginnings and the STARR Initiative is delighted to announce the 2nd Winter
Tales festival of stories in Sandwich, Kent.
This year sees
two evening performances for adults. A dark evening of storytelling and
object theatre will unfold on Friday evening, as Tony Cooper and The
Theatre of the Small perform a public experiment in the interests of
storytelling in their new show 'The Anatomy of a Story'.
Highlight of this year's festival is the Saturday night showcase,
featuring performance storyteller Xanthe Gresham and musician Sherry Robinson.
The duo will enchant with a double-bill of tales about the goddesses - and
legendary femme fatales - Aphrodite and Inana.
The festival
will also feature plenty of entertainments for young people. Saturday will
see the welcome return of shadow puppeteers Ruffege, who will perform their
new adaptation of the fairytale classic Hansel and Gretel. Ruffege will
also host a shadow theatre workshop for families. Family shows continue with
'Here Be Ogres', a puppet show with a very unlikely hero, and 'Black Ey'd
Susan', a must-see three act epic of model theatre by Robert Poulter. The
festival will close with a family workshop on Sunday afternoon led by
storyteller Jacqueline Summer.
Advance tickets are now
available for all shows and workshops from The Sandwich Bookshop, King Street
