Electric Voices is sponsoring three events at the
biennial International Music Festival promoted by Guildford Borough Council
and Surrey University.
The three events are:
American ballad singer Judy Cook will be at the
Guildford Institute, Ward Street, Guildford GU1 4LG at 8.00pm on Friday 9th
March 2007.
One of the advantages of being part of the festival
is the opportunity to get into venues not usually available for music
performance. On Thursday 15th
March, 8.00pm, The Oxford Waits will bring their unique recreation, in
costume, of Restoration music, songs and words on period instruments to
Guildford's ancient Guildhall.
On Sunday 18th March, 8.00pm, June Tabor will be in
concert at Guildford's Electric Theatre accompanied by Andy Cutting (melodeon)
and Mark Emerson (viola and Steinway - another advantage of being part of the
Festival!).
Other folk/world music events at the Festival
include:
Silk String Quartet (China) - Saturday 10th March,
4.00pm
Horses Brawl - Tuesday 13th March, 8.00pm
Tinariwen (Saharan rock'n'roll!) - Monday 19th March,
8.00pm
