Yet another outstanding night last Tues _at_ The Roffen........really serious music from a wonderful line-up....Corrina Greyson brought her "A Team" to The Bottleneck ~ Winston Delandro on guitar ~ Mikey on Bass (Mick Taylor's bassist) ~ Evan Jenkins on percussion (Matt Schofield Band) & the incomparable Johnny Henderson on Hammond complete with Lesley cab. (also from Matt's band).  That's what it's all about & despite Manchester vs Italy on the box we were nudging 95 in the audience...a great night.
And we have another completely different but no less virtuosic evening coming up on Tues 29th May when two of the finest guitarist/singer/songwriters on the World circuit come together for the first time......
Little Toby Walker (New York) + Mike Dowling (Wyoming)
The Bottleneck Blues Club, The Roffen, Rochester.
These two masters of finger picking guitar will each do a set & then join together for an improvised third set.
Each admires the other's work but they have never played together before & this is the only gig in their respective tours where they'll be on the stage together.
They are doing separate UK tours & both play fairly locally in May ~ Mike _at_ The Crawley Blues Club www.crawleybluesclub.co.uk  & at Brooks Blues Bar in London  www.brooksbluesbar.co.uk  & Toby will be at The Ship Theatre, Sevenoaks supported by Bagge & Armer on Sat 12th...give Glenda a call on 01892 826040 for info & tickets.
Toby arrives on Tues night, with his brand new CD & starts his tour a couple of days later....thanks to Geoff Henne & Roy Middleton for their help in logistics & equipment loan.
Do check out their sites....they're loaded with information, tour schedules & sound bites, web addresses below.
I have no tables left for Toby's gig & none left for Geoff Achison on Tues 26th June but you can still book seats or just turn up on spec. but the chances are you will be standing.
I'll give you some links in the next mailout for some of Geoff's local gigs in June/July & some other stuff happening in Kent over the bank holiday weekend.
Please try to give me some notice if you have to cancel....People refuse to come along at every gig unless I can guarantee them a seat & if I only find out on the day I have no time to re-allocate seating & the club suffers.  I don't want to do what Pizza Express, The Jazz Café & every Theatre does....that is take money up-front.....You can text me if need be.........Thank you for your consideration.
See you all soon,
John.
