Music for Change 10 year celebration

Canterbury based, Music for Change, the UK’s leading arts charity delivering cultural understanding work is celebrating its 10^th anniversary on Thursday 7 February.

Based in London, Congolese Kasai Masai bring us the traditional sound of the most remote equatorial African villages with an Urban Twist.

The band is a 5 piece outfit, consisting of d'jembe, guitar, saxophone, bass and drum. To add that extra exotic touch they are also joined by two female dancers.

Named after a river, Kasai lies in the heart of the rain forest where many tribes such as the Pygmies still maintain their traditional lifestyles. The Masai, just like the Baka, are another dignified tribe whose lives still centre around a nomadic existence.

Join the party at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury and come early for the pre-show entertainment in the café bar.

Also performing are U’Zambezi; UK based ensemble specialising in songs and dances from townships of Southern Africa and Téa Hodzic; an evocative voice that has enchanted audiences from Womad to Sarajevo.
