The dark side of folk music has always been its most attractive feature.

The traditional songs cut right to the basics of life....whiskey...sex....death!

 

Oysterband is arguably the best contemporary folk band around

and they sure know how to play the classics (and you can expect some of them

on Sunday)

 

Their new set however (built around the latest album "Meet You There")

involves some of their best-ever vocal work and unexpected instrumentation,

with their guitars, accordion, harmonica, violins and cello matched with anything

from African mbira to pedal-steel guitar and marching band percussion.

 

The songs are certainly rousing, mostly acoustic, but slicker than ever!
