Description:
In Toto Theatre require an accordion player (male or female) and musician collaborator for an outdoor, comic and stylized dance/music/puppetry act for family audiences. The piece, loosely based and inspired from the ‘Bumba-meu-Boi’ tradition of N E Brazil was first performed by In Toto Theatre in Summer of 2004.
Further development on the act is taking place this year with a view to touring the performance more extensively in 2009. A few shows will be taking place this year, however, with a reduced cast and some of these will be at indoor events in the Autumn.
We are seeking a highly experienced musician to steer the overall musical direction of the piece. Ideally, a performer familiar with the street arts/ festival touring sector. The willingness and ability to take on a character role, as well as perhaps perform in eccentric costume an advantage.
A Knowledge of Brazilian Maracatu rhythms will also be helpful, though not essential. More important is a keen interest in being part of a creative team developing the show alongside puppeteers, dancers and musicians.
