Roger Wilcok, my husband, is the conductor of Hastings Philharmonic Choir. It is the Choir's 80th anniversary this year AND the 80th anniversary of the White Rock Theatre,Hastings. Our big concert this year, therefore, is being held at the White Rock. To draw in a full house, we have moved away from purely classical pieces and we are performing some excerpts from Riverdance in the 2nd half of the concert. Paul Sedgwick, a local whistle and Pipe player has been booked and we were hoping to engage xxx on Melodeon but unfortunately he is already booked.
Have you any contacts who may be able to play Irish music - box/ piano accordian/melodeon? The thing is that it is not a big gig in terms of having a lot to play but what is played has to be fabulous!! The choir have learned three chruses from Riverdance, there is a group of 20 or so Irish dancers coming and we need the small but perfectly formedirish band to complete the picture! There are only 6 or 7 pieces to play but people will love hearing the music. It's not often performed in public (not in Hastings anyway) and we want to give the audience something to remember.
I would be very grateful for your help if you know of anyone we can approach. Pay is negotiable with the conductor!
Looking forward to hearing from you
