‘It’s all going rather well really!’
Well I really am ‘like the cat that’s got the cream’ lately! Surrounded by a plethora of talent!! - Over the years of TCHY I have loved every min of it – the ups and the downs!
But recently I find myself more excited about the band and our future than ever before. Plenty of gigs going on, with great attendances from your good selves, new venues that are really taking to us (and us to them) – The Good Intent Rochester a prime example (what a great gig we had there with the Wolf’s Head and Vixen Morris and Karen and Dale are just great hosts!) there’s two more dates booked at the GI! (See gig guide) This is could easily become our new home venue!
We are booked in to The Levellers recording studio in Brighton for 26th and 27th of July here we will be recording our new album ‘Constant Coven’ We are all very excited and looking forward to recording this, and working with Levellers’ producer Toby once again.
Our yearly homage to what has become a part of TCHY and TCHY a part of – the ‘The Rochester Sweeps’ Festival’ looms, and we are looking forward to the playing on the Festival finale day at our gig in The Eagle Tavern on May 5th lunch time. We hope to see as many of our friends as possible there – it should be a brilliant gig!
Thanks to John (our silent member of TCHY) our web site www.tedcanthearya.com goes from strength to strength receiving huge amounts of hits and downloads each month.
So here I am smiling like the proverbial ‘Cheshire Cat’ because I am so pleased with the bands sound, and dynamics since Fran Broady has joined us on Harp, Cello and Fiddle. This has also been aided greatly by our friend Richard Bendall, who helps us with our live sound mix, and plays his excellent choice of music at our gigs. (We think making every gig we do a little bit more special.) We are also so looking forward to doing more gigs with The Wolf’s Head and Vixen Morris as well. What a great bunch they are!
New songs that we are writing are coming together thick and fast, fresh exciting self-penned songs such as Lucy’s ‘The Pilgrim’ and ‘Southern Stars’ Some songs that I wrote some while ago are also finally surfacing now; such as ‘Jackson’s Fields’ and my deeply personal song in memory of my father ‘The Bridge’ Please support http://www.mndassociation.org/ We seem to be gelling really well as a band - and all have input into these new exciting songs and tunes whilst breathing new life in to our old favourites! (Never let it be said that drummers can’t write songs – Andy’s suggestions for ‘Jackson’s Fields’ resulted in completely re-jigging this song for the better!)
Once the new album is done we will be doing plenty of gigs – to enable people to buy it!! So please do so!! It will also be available through our website, with a sample track to download.
So see you all at Sweeps, or over the coming months! Come and find us and say hello!
Paul
