ENGLISH TUNES SESSION , 11.00 AM - 2.00 PM, WHITE LION BAR

CONCERTINA PART-PLAYING SESSION 3.00 - 4.30 PM, WHITE LION SADDLERY

Spare Parts (just Bryan Creer and me on this occasion as Suzanne Higgins has a prior commitment) will be running an English tunes session in the morning and also a part-playing session for all concertina systems in the White Lion Saddlery in Tenterden High Street from 3.00 - 4.30 p.m. on Sunday 5th. October. The music is available from our website http://www.sparepartsband.co.uk/  in .pdf and midi form; Bryan's put up versions which will play at slow speed. The session is open to people who haven't got a season ticket at a modest admission charge.

If you'd rather have a printed version by post, let me know. The tunes we've arranged are Long Odds, Bobby Shafto (Knots of May version) and the Kelso Fiddle & Accordion Club (Bob Liddle arr. Bryan Creer).

CONCERTINAS ANONYMOUS, LEWES ARMS CLUB-ROOM,

MONDAY 6th. OCTOBER, 8.00 - 11.00 PM

This is Bryan Creer's regular free session for concertina players of all systems and abilities on the first Monday of the month. What happens depends largely on who turns up, but there's usually some part-playing at some stage and a few session tunes get severely beaten up.

JOHN HARVEY TUNES SESSION,

John Harvey Tavern, Bear Yard, Lewes BN7 2AN (opposite Harveys Brewery in Cliffe High Street)

Alan Day, a superb Anglo concertina player, leads this month. He is the man responsible for the excellent CD compilations 'Anglo International' and 'English International' and will have a couple of copies with him if you're interested.

If you'd like to lead one of these sessions, which are always on the first Tuesday of the month, let me know.

LEWES FAVOURITES ENGLISH TUNES PRACTICE SESSION, LEWES ARMS CLUB-ROOM,

WEDNESDAY 22nd. OCTOBER , 8.00 - 11.00 PM

This is the monthly free practice for anyone wanting to practice tunes popular in local English sessions on any instrument. Andy Warburton has compiled two unbound supplements, one of a further 33 trendy tunes and another with a small selection of Scan Tester’s material; both are available to people coming to the practice sessions for the not unreasonable sum of £30p, but limited to one copy per person. They can also be downloaded from the Lewes Arms Folk Club website http://www.lewesarmsfolkclub.org/.
