Brighton Early Music Festival 2009– East Meets West

Main concert period: October 23^rd – November 8^th

Yes, the year is correct! BREMF 2008 www.bremf.org.uk has got off to such a cracking start on the trad meets folk front that we are already planning for next year. 

Our principal festival theme for 2009, East Meets West, will look not only at interesting encounters and collaborations between musicians from the Middle and Far East with those from the West, but also interactions between Eastern and Western Europe.  We will continue to explore the fascinating connections between ‘classical’ and ‘traditional’ music, with particular reference to the importance of gypsies in carrying music between cultures and classes throughout Europe.

Artists we hope to programme include:

·          The Orlando Consort in a programme involving musicians from Goa

·          Le Baroque Nomade and Chinese musicians

So put the dates in your 2009 diary now, but don’t forget to see what other great events we’re putting on this year between now and November 9^th 2008.
