Tenterden Folk Festival 2008

Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th October

Welcome Barn Dance with The Committee Band

This year’s Tenterden Folk Festival barn dance has been moved to the Friday night and will again be held in The Moulton Hall and Evans bar of the Tenterden Club in Church Road. The main reason for change of day is that this is an excellent venue for the barn dance but unfortunately is not available on the Saturday evening due to a wedding.

The “Welcome barn dance” will start at 8.00 p.m. and feature The Committee Band who, for more than a decade, has remained one of the most highly rated bands on the “e-ceilidh” scene.  Booked by all of the major English festivals and dance clubs and with three critically acclaimed CDs to their name, they continue to develop their repertoire of tunes from across the British Isles and Europe.

This is one of the biggest dance bands we have booked for Tenterden as it will include 10 musicians, Nick Walden as caller and Sam Skey as PA engineer.  The musicians are:

The bands rigid selection of tunes assures that the dances are given maximum lift and that there is plenty of scope for the complex, multi-instrumental arrangements that are the band’s trademark.  With a front row of fiddles, mandolin, sax, recorder and melodeon supported and complemented by a rock back line of guitars, bass and drums, The Committee Band remains the band to dance to!

Souvenir programme:

After the success of last year’s souvenir programme we are already accepting bookings for advertising in this year’s even bigger programme.
