Winteriser
The second Winteriser concert takes place this week. Winteriser is a series of three concerts presented by
pianist Paul G. Smyth and composer Simon O’Connor taking place at the
Goethe–Institut, 37 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. Smyth will perform a new work for
solo piano by O’Connor as well as an improvised set. A catalogue and CD
recording will accompany the final concert. O’Connor’s three new pieces are
composed with elements of Schubert’s Die Winterreise, but O’Connor says his works ‘unlike that particular journey, are
odes to the joy of the coldest season’. Warm mulled drinks will be provided
before each concert. The concerts take place at 6:30pm on 15 January, 19
February and 19 March. Admission is €5.
Ergodos launches archive
Ergodos, the Dublin-based music company, has launched its online
archive. The company intends to use the archive to post recordings and video
footage of concerts, as well as other unreleased performances and interviews. To
start off the archive, Ergodos has posted the full two-hour performance of
Morton Feldmans Trio,
performed by Marc Sabat (violin), Rohan de Saram (cello) and Aki Takahashi
(piano) at the Printing House Festival of New Music in December 2007. www.ergodos.ie
