Subject: SEFAN 2008-03-24_03 IMPORTANT: Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
Dear Network Folk

here's a first important piece of information that cropped up in conference.

FROM MARK RINGWOOD.
Begin forwarded message:

One point I left on a 'scribble-board' is the need to raise the issue among members about the change to work permits.  I had a couple of chance conversations with delegates who were going to be working with overseas artists this summer and were unaware of the changes in Immigration Law.

It's absolutely vital that clubs/promoters/festivals know, and take it upon themselves to find out, that an Artist/Dance Caller etc has a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).   Immigration will turn back anyone without one.

===========================

Also
Note from 1d -
I don't acutually know if the Tax requirements have changed since Broken Ankles booked an overseas Artist ourselves (in the 80's!), but we also needed a Foreign Performers Tax Exemption certificate.

Any member who has the lowdown on all this - please let me know and i'll re-distribute it when we've got the full answer.
