Subject: Tony Cox
Virtuoso Zimbabwean-born guitarist Tony Cox has relocated to the United Kingdom. I saw him play the Half Moon Junction in Putney, London recently. Tony's style is hard to pin down. It's an eclectic mixture of folk, bluegrass, jazz and blues, with a strong African kwela influence. He has played numerous festivals and venues worldwide. It's an experience to watch Tony's total mastery of the finger picking style, coupled with the rich warm tones of his custom-made Mervyn Davis guitar and his strong sense of melody and rhythm. Apart from that you couldn't meet a warmer, friendlier, down-to-earth, more unassuming artist. Check out his music and tour schedule on his MySpace link and his own website.
