Seattle country-soul sensation Rachel Harrington meets with North-East's master of slide guitar Rod Clements for a short one-off series of dates commencing 29th June 2009 and culminating with a headline performance at Maverick Festival in Suffolk on 4th & 5th of July 09.

From the crossroads of country, folk & bluegrass, acclaimed American singer-songwriter Rachel Harrington is a roots musician in the purest sense whose unique artistry captures the deep link between country and soul. Her songs are a primer in Americana, telling personal and mythical stories from the American West. Championed by Bob Harris of Radio 2, her two acclaimed albums hit the top spot of the Euro-Americana Chart.  Her first album ‘The Bootlegger’s Daughter’ was described as the best debut since Gillian Welch’s ‘Revival’ and Rachel’s follow-up ‘City Of Refuge’ was hailed as “inspiringly original” by Q Magazine.  

She will be accompanied by the inimitable Rod Clements, solo singer-songwriter, master guitarist, dobro guru and former Lindisfarne hitmaker, whose consummate musicianship and illustrious folk-roots credentials will create an exclusive finale to Rachel's tour.

The format of the show can be adjusted according to venue needs, but will probably comprise of a short opening set from Rod, followed by interval, then the main set (1 hour +) of Rachel performing her material with Rod accompanying her on dobro & mandolin. During this set Rachel may do some solo numbers and possibly join Rod on a couple of his songs too.

Fortuitous circumstances have brought Rachel & Rod together for these very special concerts.  Rachel’s marathon Maverick-sponsored UK tour commences with a live appearance on the Bob Harris Show at the beginning of April and runs for three whole months, taking in arts centres, festivals, folk and acoustic music venues throughout England & Scotland, not to mention a stint in Ireland and the Netherlands in the middle - 52 gigs and still counting!  She was originally due to return to the States at the end of June but decided to extend the tour for a further week after being asked to headline at this year’s Maverick Music Festival in Suffolk on 4th & 5th July.  Rachel’s regular sideman, Zak Borden, who is appearing on all of her gigs up to and including 28th June, is unable to stay on due to other commitments back home.  

Rachel and Rod are delighted to be working together on what will be a fresh, exciting and unique collaboration, producing some unmissable gigs.  It may not happen again, so book now...!
