Wednesday 25 March 7.45pm

Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury

Featuring the Orient House Ensemble - Gilad Atzmon (saxophones), Frank Harrison (piano), Asaf Sirkis (drums) and Yaron Stavi (double bass) and the Sigamos String Quartet

Charlie Parker with Strings is one of the biggest selling jazz CD's of all time.
Following sell out shows in the UK in 2008, Gilad is touring the UK in 2009 to promote the new CD of this project which includes adaptations of tunes from Parker’s original 1950s Verve recordings plus especially composed new tracks.

“Atzmon is an astonishing musician with a seemingly effortless ability to demolish and rebuild any old tune he chooses to play” Time Out

Gilad Atzmon's marvellous evocation of Charlie Parker's legendary 1949 Verve recording with strings somehow succeeds in conveying Bird's mercurial genius, as well as accurately re-presenting what counts as some of the most profoundly beautiful music ever made.
