 The Magpie's Nest

Dear Friends,
TONIGHT sees the last Friday Folk gig until autumn at the Stoke Newington International Airport, featuring performances from Plaster of Paris, Sam Carter, The Woodlarks, and Theo Bard.

Festival season is truely upon us. Be sure to head down to Paradise Gardens Festival THIS weekend. It's a free festival with top attractions and line-ups. The following weekend we're off to serve up Friday Folk at Glastonbury in the Shangri La field. If you're there, hope you can make it!

Next week sees a night of Brighton based musicians at the Old Queen's Head, a selection of Old Folk, New Folk and No Folk! We're particularly looking forward to a set from Birghton based fiddle maestro Ben Paley, who will be performing a set of tunes and songs with his legendary multi-instrumentalist father Tom Paley - who surely needs no introduction!

and don't forget the big ol' South London Barn Dance at the Rivoli Ballroom on Friday 3rd July...

a bit further ahead sees Folklahoma at the Arnold Circus Street Party, Sunday 26th July....

have a nice weekend

PARADISE GARDENS FESTIVAL
Saturday 20th June

Victoria Park
East London
12am - 10pm

The Magpie's Nest is absolutely thrilled to be contributing a selection of acts to this year's paradise gardens festival. For those of you who have not been to the festival before, you are missing one of London's BEST free festivals, and this can't be overstated. Now in it's 5th year, the festival boasts the cream of UK festival acts, fringe and performers, Carter's Steam fair and all sorts of attractions you'd expect at any paid festival.

The Magpie's Nest is scheduling a stage in the People's Palace on Saturday 20th June, and we reckon it's one of our best ever festival line ups. Plus, it's free for you to come and enjoy. We have selected acts mainly from East London, breaking through to larger stages in this current "Folk Revival".

Some of you on this list may remember StokeFest, which is sadly no more. Paradise Gardens definitely fills the gap for our fix of free community festivals in East London.
