Eastbourne Lammas
  Festival 1st and
  2nd August 2009
Western Lawns, Eastbourne Seafront from 10.30am

  Now in its 9th year,
Eastbourne Lammas Festival is a FREE pageant of morris dancing, carnival
giants and live music from ranging from traditional folk, through rock to
  modern jazz.

  The festival starts
in with Morris dancing in differing styles, with hosts Hunters Moon Morris and
guests Gong Scourers, Loose Women and Oojakapivvy along with drumming from the
  Pentacle Drummers

  As always Saturday’s
Carnival parade at 12.30 promises to be spectacular. Starting from the pier,
the Eastbourne Giants Herne and Andred will once again lead dancers, drummers
and festival-goers along the prom to the pier for performances before
  returning to the Western Lawns.

  Anyone, of any age
is invited to join the parade if they come along to the Pier entrance at noon,
though children must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to dress up! Raid
your dressing-up boxes, strap on a pair of fairy wings or garland your hair
with flowers and join in. The more the merrier!

  Back at the Western
Lawns festival site, Saturday’s line up features live performances
  from:
  Carol (11.00am)
  Ragati String
  Band (12.00
  midday)
  Kim
  Thompsett (1.00pm)
  Lackadaisy (2.00pm)
  Touchstone,
  (3.00)
  MagicFolk (4.00pm)

  Lie back and laze in
the sun by the sea as you listen to the music. Bring a picnic or chose from
the variety of food and drinks that are on offer over the weekend. The Beer
Tent is run by The 1648 Brewery who will once again be brewing their excellent
  Lammas Ale for the event.

  With clothing, book,
jewellery and craft stalls and demonstrations, plus children’s entertainment
from face-painting and story-telling to Mouse Town, Punch and Judy and bouncy
castle, there is something for everyone.

  Sunday
  2nd is a little more
laid back with Live Entertainment from
  The Blue Shift Jazz
  Band (12.00
  midday)
  Black Strap
  Molasses (1.00pm)
  Mr Weston & The
  Ironing (2.00pm)

  The festival closes
with a chance to kick your shoes off, grab a likely partner and dance on the
grass for the now traditional open air Celidh led by
Rattlebone with caller Chris Armstrong (4.00pm)

  And if you’d like to
try your hand (and feet!) at Border Morris, Hunters Moon Morris will be
  running a workshop at 1.30.

  Entrance to the
festival site is FREE but we annually raise money for the RNLI, so please give
generously to this good cause throughout the weekend.
