Described by Bob Harris as “one of Britain’s greatest singer-songwriters”, and undoubtedly the uncrowned queen of British Americana, Angie Palmer has been compared to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Lucinda Williams, but is actually like no-one else. Her unique music is a potent mix of country, blues, and folk served up with equal measures of aggression and tenderness, immaculate lyrics forged from a true storyteller's art and all delivered with "a delicious hair-in-the-voice approach that gives her a tough edge over more fey contemporaries" (Uncut).
Her new album “Meanwhile... as night falls” is full of strange takes on old fairy tales, diverse influences, from Russian folk tales to French islands and the usual fabulous group of musicians, including B J Cole on pedal steel and classical percussionist Sophie Hastings.
