Mumchance & Guise:
Procession and Performance
Featuring artists: Michelle Bloom, Megan Broadmeadow, Matthew Cowan, Gery Georgieva, Terry Frisch,
Tim Johnson and Woody's Traditional One Man Band
In late September the Mumchance and Guise exhibition opened at Cecil Sharp House presenting artifacts from the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) archives alongside new works by contemporary artists. On Saturday 31 October 2009 artists featured in the exhibition will present a Procession and Performance event.
Beginning at sundown (between 4.30 and 5pm), a twilight procession of disguised performers and musicians will begin from the top of nearby Primrose Hill. The eclectic group will then make the short walk to Cecil Sharp House, Trefusis Hall where a series of performances will take place.
Come in disguise and join the procession or simply watch the procession and following performances at Trefusis Hall as the artists showcase a series of performances that tap into the dark underbelly of folk customs and disguise.
Meet in your own disguise at 4.15pm at the top of Primrose Hill for the beginning of the procession.
