NOTICES

Shepway Arts Network evening: please note that the date for this event has been changed from Tuesday 16th February (given out in this months Art Beat e-newsletter) to Tuesday 9th February. The times stay the same: from 6pm to 8pm. The venue is The Cube, Tontine Street, Folkestone. Attendance will need to be by registration, due to capacity and light catering. Please email: arts_at_shepway_dot_gov_dot_uk. Anyone unable to attend but who would like to have some input into whether similar events are held in the future, what they would like to gain from such get-togethers or offer any comments and suggestions, please also respond to the above email address. Please note that this event is for practitioners in the arts across all the art forms.

The Tower Theatre Competition: Folkestone Creative magazine sponsored a competition in December and invited local artists to paint The Tower Theatre. First prize was £100 and went to Janine Umbers. Janine's painting was featured as the cover of Folkestone Creative. In the youth section three students from the Folkestone Academy won two tickets each for their winning paintings. There will be an exhibition of all the entries for The Tower Theatre Competition at The Grand from February 5th through 28th February; private view and reception, with wine and nibbles, on Friday February 5th 6pm to 8pm; introductions at 6.30pm - tickets £5 per person, payable by cheque to Lilburnepress together wih an SAE to: Folkestone Creative, 7 Wingate Road, Folkestone, CT19 5QE. Some of the members of FHODS will also be on hand for a sing along around the piano of some of the songs from past shows they have done.

Bigfoot Drama Academy is calling all young people who love drama! Bigfoot Arts Education East Kent’s Drama Academy in Folkestone starts its new term next Saturday the 23rd January. The BDA provides drama and performance classes for children aged 7-12 years on Saturday mornings from 10am – 12pm in term time, in ten week courses.
