Subject: Sussex Harmony- call out 

Was your New Year Resolution to start playing a musical instrument again, and maybe sing too?

So it’s nearly the end of February and you’ve got the instrument out of its case from the attic.  Bet you are still wondering where you can find a group of friendly people you can play with who don’t mind that you’re not up to orchestral standard.  Sounds familiar? Well, why not come along to Lewes on a Thursday night and meet Sussex Harmony, a group of enthusiastic singers and players who try to keep alive the sacred and secular music that was played in Georgian times and its American derivative, Shape Note music. The music is relatively straightforward, tuneful and can be great fun too. And where else will you find a group that has performed in pubs, churches, folk festivals, weddings, funerals, concert halls, theatres and even Harveys Brewery?

We welcome most instruments particularly strings and woodwind, whether the modern ones or early versions like viols, shawms and even serpents!  Should you join us you will get support from our Music Director Rachel, who is an experienced woodwind teacher.
