Subject: The Event Safety Guide (The Purple Guide)

Dear Colleagues,

Those of you are users of the Health & Safety Executives Purple Guide will know that it is some years since it was last reviewed and updated.  The Events Industry Forum, an organisation that we were key to launching, is now talking to the Health & Safety Executive about publishing on a website, a complete 21st Century revision.  I am inviting you to express any interest you may have and any comments and ideas that you might wish to see included in the guide, especially in the chapter for which we are now responsible for leading - that is ‘Small Events’.

I am currently consulting with one or two festival organisers, community arts managers and associations and health & safety people.  I would value any input you wish to offer, however simple, or complicated that might be at this early stage.  It is intended that drafts of the chapter we write will be complete within 6 months, so don’t hesitate, do it now and I look forward to hearing from you all.

I hope your events and festivals are going well this year and to hear from you soon.

Best wishes,

Steve

Steve Heap

Director
