Hi Penny,
Just to let you know - since I've just sent out the ebulletin -
(see below. 1d ) -
whilst not all benefits are available to non-members, most events and so on are free to anyone involved in voluntary and community music groups. You're always very good at pushing the benefits of membership when you summarise our bulletins for the network list, but I wouldn't want anyone to be put off because they thought they had to be a member to attend an event!

Also, can I draw your attention to the folk bands project taking place in Oxford this autumn (under the MM events section) - this is very exciting as we hope to create up to 10 new small folk bands for a performance at the Oxford Folk Festival in 2011; and are giving groups the chance to do some recording at the SAE Institute in Oxford. Those bands that want to keep going beyond the length of the project will also be given free membership of Making Music for a year so that they can access all our support services and take up our low-cost insurance. It's a fantastic opportunity for individual musicians, even if they're already in a group elsewhere, so I hope we get lots of people involved!

Best,
Alice
