There is a ceilidh at Rochester Sweeps Festival this year. It's part of Gary and Rosie Blakeley's Ceremony of May which is at Fort Pitt Grammar School as part of Sweeps on Saturday 1st May. The show is followed by a two hour ceilidh and the £6 entrance fee (free for participating morris dancers with badges) includes both the show and the dance.
The box office number for tickets is 01634-338338 or book online at www.whatsonmedway.co.uk
This number is also for tickets for Cara Dillon on Sunday (Bellowhead have sold out on Saturday) and for the Medway showcase on Friday.
Everything else is free and you can see over 70 morris sides and bands like Wheeler Street,  the Dealers, Sur Les Docks (France), Morena (Slovakia), Janette Geri (Australia) and young up coming bands like the Chimney Boys, Green Diesel, Suntrap, Calico Street Riots, Luke Jackson and many more over the weekend.
There are plenty of sessions with P.J. and Chris Taylor and singalongs with John Barden, Ruff n' Reddy and Bob and Kathy Drage. Real ale beer festivals at the Gordon Hotel and the Coopers Arms.
Oh, and there's a traditional herring smoker from the Netherlands.
Full programme is downloadable from www.whatsonmedway.co.uk
