Hi, Penny,
I don't know whether this is suitable for putting out here as I
know we're not a chat line, but it would be interesting to know if anyone
else's St. George's Day event experienced anything
similar.
Rabble were at their usual St. George's Day stand at the Bowl,
Charing, on Friday, dancing first, with a play in the pub after. I
confess, I wasn't there, so this has all been passed on to me. After the
play, a member of the National Front started distributing leaflets. His
main theme was that very soon women would have to wear a veil and would be
stoned for Morris Dancing and appearing as dragons in public, and if we wanted
traditions to carry on we had better think about his party. It sounds,
hilarious put like that and I know there is an election coming up and all
candidates have a right to put their ideas across, but, canvassing aside, is
there yet another infiltration of folk music and customs going on
here?
Has this happened
elsewhere?
Happy (fascist free) May Day
everyone.
Gail
