Dear Supporter,

Classic Appalachian Blues from Smithsonian Folkways, a 21-track compilation drawn from the Smithsonian Folkways collection and performances at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, is now available at folkways.si.edu.

The music of bedrock blues performers such as Pink Anderson, Lesley Riddle, Etta Baker, John Jackson, and Doc Watson shines bright, claiming Appalachia as one of the cradles of American acoustic blues.

Smithsonian Folkways Trivia!
Each month we'll ask a trivia question; email your answer, name, and address with the subject "February Trivia" to SmithsonianFolkways_at_si_dot_edu by February 28, and a randomly selected entrant with the correct answer will win a free CD of his or her choice!

February Question: Which famous rock group created their name by combining the names of two bluesmen, one of whom sings "You Don't Know My Mind" on the new album Classic Appalachian Blues from Smithsonian Folkways?

Congratulations to last month's winner, Jonathan from Clinton, NY, who correctly answered "Canada" to January's question: Legendary concert promoter and album producer Sam Gesser (1930-2008) got his start in the music business distributing Folkways Records to what country?
