The
Original Lonnie Donegan Band featuring his
son
Peter
Donegan.............
Hailsham Pavilion
Saturday 24th April
7.30pm
Lonnie Donegan, who died in 2002, played music for
more than 50 years,
and during that time he inspired nearly every major
musician alive today.
The band at the Pavilion will include
original members Chris Hunt, Sticky Wicket,
Paul Henry and Eddie Masters and
features Lonnie's son Peter Donegan
(lead vocals, acoustic
guitar, banjo, harmonica & mandolin).
Having played with his
own band since 2006, Peter recently decided that he wanted to take
a different musical direction and teamed up with the original
Lonnie Donegan Band http://www.lonniedoneganinc.com/band.html to
tour and record a new album.
Peter had played with the band before
his father's death and went on the last tour with them, performing with, amongst
others, the legendary Van Morrison, and at the sell-out tribute to Lonnie at the
Royal Albert Hall, Peter found himself on stage with some of the greats of
international music - Billy Bragg, Mark Knopfler, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltrey,
plus many more who came to pay their respects to their great
mentor.
Our special guests to open the show are local favourites,
The Two Bob Band
