ONE NIGHT ONLY: Kate’s Kitchen Band to Perform at Hoe Down in B-Town, a Live country music and dance extravaganza!!!

City College Collective are proud to announce Kate’s Kitchen Band as headliners for the inaugural Hoe Down in B-Town. This one-off special event takes place on April 8th at the Old Market in Hove, and is being held to raise money for Crossroads, the charity that cares for carers.

City College Collective spokesperson Jess Moore says,  “We can’t wait to welcome the infamous Kate’s Kitchen Band to the Old Market. They’re the hottest eight piece in Brighton and we just know they’re going to get the joint jumping and help our hoedown go with a bang”.

The band won’t be the only attraction at Hoe Down in B-Town. As well as infectious music and new dance moves to master, there’ll be plenty of games to keep revellers occupied, including skittles in the main room, an amazing raffle with prizes put up by local companies, and a ‘Best Dressed’ prize for the nattiest cowboy and cowgirl in the room.

And if this all sounds a bit hectic, you’ll be able to relax in the beautiful, ornate Old Market Bar and dig into the delicious ploughman’s supper on offer.

Doors open from 7.30pm till 11pm, admission £10.

If you would like to support your friends or family by dancing the night away, tickets are available from http://www.theoldmarket.co.uk or call 01273 736222.

Brighton Acoustic Session

The Lord Nelson, Trafalgar Street, Brighton

Monday, April 5

Featuring:

PORCHLIGHT SMOKER

We saw an absolutely knockout set from these guys recently - best live gig we’ve seen this year.

By turns raucous and reflective, their passion and enthusiasm was infectious.

They describe themselves modestly as an unrehearsed jug band but in the four years they have been together they have developed an intuitive rapport so that they now swap lead instruments, vocals and harmonies with effortless elan.

Gillian Welch, John Prine, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Blondie, Steve Earle, The Cure, Hank Williams and the Carter Family are all part of their repertoire and, together with some riveting songs of their own,

they have taken the bluegrass and old timey sound to a new place.

 They are:

Fred Davies - Guitar, mandolin,vocals.

Scott Smith - Guitar, lapsteel, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, vocals.

Steve Bell - Banjo, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals.

Darren Reynolds - Bass.
