Subject: FitB - Easter report

Hi Everyone
Hope you had a hoppy Easter! Sorry i know thats bad! I've had too much chocolate ;o)
The Martyn Joseph weekend went really well, two powerful performances from the man, resulting in a standing ovation in the Barn - and a very insightful and interesting workshop. Thanks to those who came from far and wide to attend, very impressive, especially the European contingent. Nice to meet some lovely new people and welcome to the list those that joined up. Thanks to Luke Jackson for his impromptu performance at the workshop, when Martyn surprised him to by inviting him to step up and demonstrate his skill as a song writer, which he did - brilliantly. Anyone fancy doing a review for me? Free ticket available if selected.
Ok I'll try and keep this brief... (ha - some hope!) Still some tickets left for the next FitB concert which is Show of Hands, supported by Ruarri Joseph, at the Quarterhouse venue in Folkestone on the 30th April. Ok these guys really need no introduction do they. They deliver high quality performances over and over again. Great songs, Steve Knightley's vast and windswept voice and Phil Beers intricate and atmospheric embellishments. I'm so looking forward to seeing how this gig differs from the more sedate, seated concerts we're used to with SoH. It'll be a bit like going to a festival in a concert! I'm sure they'll generate a great atmosphere and give us a really different SoH experience - much more upbeat and energetic, but with that same technical brilliance and thought provoking material. Tickets can be booked direct from the theatre on 01303 858500 - if you haven't got them already - many of you have. £15 and £12 for concessions. The idea behind this tour is not only to offer the existing fans something new and exciting, but also to try and open up the appeal of the band to a younger generation, who may not have heard of them or dismissed them as 'boring old folkies' and not their 'sort of thing'. It would be great if those of you who are coming and already know how brilliant they are, could perhaps suggest it to those - dare I say - 'younger' members of your family or social circles, as something that could really inspire or lead that generation into discovering this music that we all love and support. I think that the more people of all ages that discover how amazing this still relatively unknown 'alternative' music world is, the better - don't you! It's definitely a force for good. I think that and hear it from many of you too. So drag your kids/nieces/nephews along - and maybe even grandchildren, if they're tall enough! Bribe them if you have to, they'll thank you for it one day when they realise there is an alternative to Lady Ga Ga.
Tickets are selling really well for all the other Spring/Summer dates - there's a reminder list at the bottom of this mail, if you've lost the last one - or just joined!
Talking of Luke Jackson- Steve Knightley has agreed that he can support him when he comes to St Gregory's in June. Luke support Steve I mean, not the other way around - though maybe one day Luke eh!! Who knows!!
Who likes Christine Collister?? I'm trying to gauge her appeal as It's been a long time since she's played down this way. Would you be interested in coming to see her? Please email me if so, so I can judge better which venue she'd be best suited to. Martyn Joseph is keen to come back on his Winter tour, when he'll have his new album to promote. I don't usually rebook so soon, but after the response he generated, I think people will be pleased at the chance to see him again.
