We've got a whole raft of exciting
gigs coming up, starting off with our 5th Birthday celebrations at
the Old Queens Head this Wednesday, and tickets are selling FAST. Come and
celebrate our coming of age with the music of Fribo, Tank and Trumpet

We're keeping our fingers crossed
for sunny weather on Bank Holiday Monday 2 May, as we've got another
spectacular Magpie's Nest Folk Alldayer at the Old Queens Head. 15 bands will
take over the entire pub with stages upstairs and down, showcasing the hottest
talent from the UK folk scene. Acts include Kidnap Alice, Urusen, Sam Lewis,
Scarlett in the Wilderness, Theo Bard, Chicken Shed Zeppelin, Troubadour Rose,
Nimming Neds, The Wagon Tales, The City Shanty Band, Holloway Jug Band, Wolf
Alice, Goodnight Lenin and Bunty. Get your tickets

Festival of Britain - call for artists
As announced in the last mailout,
The Magpie's Nest is producing Cultura Obscura as part of the Festival of
Britain, in association with the Southbank Centre, on Saturday 7 and
Sunday 8 May. The Southbank Centre has set up several beach huts for
intimate music busking opportunities, and has asked the Nest if some of the
musicians amongst our supporters would like to set up camp and fill the
riverside with their tunes. If you're interested in playing, email sam_at_themagpiesnest_dot_co_dot_uk - limited
slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis!
