Subject: Rotherfield Tango Day
Saturday April 9th
A Tango Day at Rotherfield
An opportunity for musicians to learn the basics of tango playing from
Karen Tweed.
The workshop will accommodate
players of any instrument at any level other than absolute beginners, and
will take the form of working through two or three tunes to illustrate
technique and style.
There will also be a slot in the early afternoon to learn the basics of
dancing the Argentinian Tango (the real thing, not the ballroom stuff!).
This part of the day will be open for just £10 to anyone who would like
a taster of tango.
In the evening there will be a small social dance, featuring English, French
and some Tango dancing.
This is the third of Karen’s occasional workshops at Rotherfield, and they
are always highly enjoyable.
PRICES - advance booking essential!
Music workshops: £20
Dance workshop: £10
Evening social dance: £7
Day ticket for all sessions: £25

‘SUSSEX TRADITION – in the Making’ – the book -
is a collection of 6 dance notations of 1990's Sussex origin, with
diagrams and suggested tunes, ready to bring to life. The dances include a
processional street dance with repeating choruses, ones for teams of 8 or
multiples of 4, spot dances and Sussex Garland which is for 5 dancers.
All these were performed amongst many others by Sussex Spinning Jenny
during their 23 years as a clog team. These six dances are not archived
anywhere else but can now go on a bookshelf as a custom to be passed down.
The cost is £6.50 including P&P.
