Deal Maritime Folk Festival 15-18 Sept

Press Release

Deal’s Big Busk success

Deal had a great taster of its September Maritime Folk Festival this Saturday with six hours of great and varied music at the Deal town hall.

Lis Clayson, one of the festival organisers said “We had fantastic support locally on Saturday. We had 11 performers playing for nearly six hours of music in Deal and at the Sea Café in Walmer. There was some really fine music. It just reminds us what a great local musical talent we have got here in Deal. Special thanks for Mac Mckean for organising. Thank you to everyone who stopped to listen and donate as well as all our performers. We raised £137 for Festival funds.”

The Festival has its first showcase event at the Astor this Friday (27th May) with the great Bayou Seco playing with support from the Fiddlers Fit. The event is an important fundraiser for the festival who relies on its own efforts for most of its funding.

Tickets are available at the Astor or Soundhouse - £10 in advance or £12 on the door and students £7. Full details at www.theastor.org

This year’s festival will be between 15th – 18th September. More details of festival can be found at www.dealmaritimefolkfestival.org.uk or the Festival’s fackbook page

Bands playing on Saturday Big Busk included Mac & Clive, Ramblin Ade, Dover Patrol, Mike Broomfield, ‘This way is up’, Bill Howarth and his hammered dulcimer, Eddie, Driftwood , Loose Change Theory, Cocos Lovers and Ravenhill.
