If you are interested please contact festival_at_foaotmad_dot_org_dot_uk initially and we'll pass on the details of what is needed (and what is offered in return) as soon as we have them.

NEW LAST WEEK

******************************************************************************

******************************************************************************

John Yeaman regrets to announce that the 2012 Sewerby May Day Event has been cancelled.

Sewerby Hall management booked 2 separate weddings on "our" weekend by mistake, forgetting that FOAOTMAD have occupied this slot for the last seven years.

They have apologised unreservedly, and offered us the Whit Weekend, instead, but that would coincide with Spring Camp and we do not want to be in opposition.

Our  2012 September weekend - 1st and 2nd -  will go ahead as usual.

***************************************

Susette and Chance Shiver are going to be back in the Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts and Rockefeller Folk Arts Museum auditorium this Dec. 21 for a Old Time Country Holiday Show. The museums are in Colonial Williamsburg at 326 West Francis Street, Williamsburg, VA 23183.

Admission to the museum is $6, and the shows are included. The shows are at 1:30 and 4:00.

They are excited to have Nate Leath, an award winning fiddler, joining them for the show.  Watch this clip of Nate with another pal, Danny Knicely:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhLWlD8vHkQ.

From Jean Ritchie's Cherry Tree Carol to the old time fiddle tune, Breaking Up Christmas, with the Stanley Brothers Beautiful Star of Bethlehem and Gene Autry and Bing Crosby in between, come sing (and dance if you like) with them.

The museums and all of Colonial Williamsburg will be lit up just like a Christmas tree:  http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.com

Musically Monstrous Promotions update:

Future Shows:

The Old Tire Swingers from California on Thursday 12th January at the Three Horseshoes, Towersey

Check them out on facebook http://www.facebook.com/oldtireswingers

Biography, ticket and other information coming soon.

The Old Tire Stringband are a 4-piece band from California, influenced by the Appalachian string bands as well as their own central Californian country roots, they play a style of music that's somewhere between bluegrass, old time and country which has resulted in not only a set of traditional tunes but also their own blend of music which is The Old Tire Swingers.

Beverly Smith & John Grimm on Tuesday 8th May at the Three Horseshoes, Towersey

Beverly has promised to have some recordings up on the web to show they have in store for you.

We already know about Beverly's beautiful singing and fine fiddle playing. John is as very dynamic fiddle player and will also be singing duets with Beverly in a similar style of show to the one she used to do with Carl Jones

Hans Theessink on Sunday 23rd September at the Three Horseshoes, Towersey

Rag Mama Rag on Sunday 21st October at the Three Horseshoes, Towersey

Ashley & Debbie had a great time playing for you and immediately asked if they could come back and play for you again next year. I would have had them back the next week, it was an awesome show.

La Fuente de Musica

Residential old-time Music workshop week in Andalucia

May 12-19, 2012

El Fonte, Sorbas, Espana 04270

The curriculum for May music week includes classes in beginning and advanced old-time fiddle, beginning and advanced old-time banjo, guitar, and group singing.  Teachers are Dave Bing, Kate Lissauer, John Whelan, Peter Dunn, and one or

This delightful and popular learning holiday is claimed by many to be the best holiday they've ever had!  Why?  Great teaching, great companionship, a small group of like-minded people, the intimate setting, pure natural beauty, wonderful food, big swimming pool, mountains, privacy, great music day and night...

May week has now expanded to include more instruments and more levels of instruction.  There is something for everyone, and even the non-playing partner or family member will have a glorious, relaxing time. Tuition, room and board, and use of all facilities is covered by the £500 fee.  Transport is paid by participants, and transfers are arranged, as needed, by La Fuente. Rooms are shared by two, three or four people, and private double or twin rooms are available for couples.

For more information, or an enrollment form, contact Kate Lissauer.  klissauer_at_mbzonline_dot_net
