Hi Beau, thanks for the Mail. The new lineup in the "Abbey Capers Band" is Ruth and I, with Pete Wheeler on Bass, Drums, and other stringed instruments with Dave Grabham on guitar and as our singer. Pete has other bookings that come up with "Wheelerstreet" and dave gets other jobs so Paul slater and Bob Kenward are our replacements for the time being.

Dont forget the the "Festival Band" which is a 10 piece band. This ensemble includes Feix Krish from the "Beverly Craven Group" and Nico ramsden from many famous outfits with best work on the tubular bells album. This band is a charity/not for profit outfit and we have done some good work for various charities.

As its our first year as "Abbey Capers" we are really pleased with the number of gigs that we have booked. Ruth and I are also working with pre school and reception class children to spread the word, and Peter is booked on a cruise ship in June as a musician, so musics working for us. We do have some Pub work, but with the number of people in the pubs on a regular basis its hard to see how a publican can make a living let alone pay musicians. You may recall some of my remarks back when you were running a campaign "How to get More Music in Pubs" Oh how I wish I had been wrong. I will pass on to you an E mail from Ernie Waner about beer and the intended increases in duty over the next 4 years, government must be bonkers. (Small  "g" intended)

Keep safe and well.  Mike

Hi Mike,

Just getting to this.

Tell me, are Paul, Shelagh and Judy still occasional members of the band ?

Cheers,

                Beau

Hi Beau,

Good to see you both on Saturday - what a great evening again at Christine and Trevors!

Have been meaning to drop you a line to ask if you can update your Kent venue and musicians listing for Ruth and me on the Kent Folk website.

Our Band has changed and we are no longer the Watershed Band but are now the Abbey Capers Barn Dance Band (website: www.abbeycapers.org.uk )

I still play the melodeon and anglo concertina

Ruth Cronk is a caller for the band and plays English Concertina.

A link for the new band would be much appreciated as we not very 'visable' as yet on the internet.   Fortunately our regulars  know where to find us!

Very best wishes

Mike Wheeler
