Hicks Wednesday December 7th

Hello friends,
He's back: He opened our club all those ages ago (was it only last February?). He played the first ever night and defined our style and set the standard. Its hugely exciting to have him play Wifu again. With Ed Hicks, and, heavens above, the spectacular Rosalind Masson. Superlatives abound. Just ask anybody.
Aaron Ed and Rosie play at the Mason's Arms on the Harrow Road as part of their full UK tour, and will also be appearing with Thomas Dolby on his UK tour, and then with Norianna Kennedy on her tour of Ireland. Full details below.
But if you haven't yet had the priviledge:
"Fiddlin' and banjoin'
genius's. Aaron Jonah Lewis: multiple award winning fiddler, banjo
player extraordinaire, Aaron is well known for taking audiences at concerts and
festivals by storm both here in the UK and in the USA. Familiar to UK audiences
through the showmasters his neo-traditional bluegrass band The Hotseats,
and celebrated in the US for the absurdist theatricality of Special Ed
and the Short Bus. And now Aaron is taking Deutchland und mittel
Europe by storm with new western swing outfit The Froggy
Mountain Band. Aaron is rapidly becoming iconic, not just on account of his
virtuosity but because of his rapport with his audience. Skills in abundance,
passion and presence. All that then in addition, charisma, pure creativity
and SOUL.
This the second time Aaron has teamed up to tour with leading
British banjo player Ed Hicks. If you don't know him already Hicks
is a banjo player, songster, irreverent folk-activist and performer. Considered
to be one of the leading players of his generation he has performed
everywhere. From a Transylvanian Carrefour to a cockney gypsy gangster’s
funeral in Essex. He has appeared all across Europe (Holland, France,
Belgium, Italy, Germany, Norway, Romania, Ireland) and at prestigious venues
across the UK (everywhere from The Barbican Centre to Glastonbury Festival). The
combination of Ed's skills and his archival knowledge of banjo music, in
particular Appalachian and Old Time, means he is a teacher in huge demand. Ed's
banjo workshops for the EDFSS have a cult status.
And if that wasn't enough Aaron and Ed are joined by Scottish
dancer Rosalind Masson. A rising star of the international
contemporary dance scene Rosalind has just finished a series of performances at
the ICA in London. One to watch, then. We are immensely
privileged to have Rosie at the Snug Club where she will flat-foot and clog, perfectly complimenting Aaron
and Eds music".
