Friday 13th January. 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm):
Scandal Nights (£6/5)
The Tom Thumb Theatre is delighted to welcome back the wonderful
Scandalmongers, for another night of incredible storytelling, performance and
live music. This month Rachel Rose Reid returns to Scandalnights with a
spread of tales and story ballads to tickle the imagination and soothe the
soul. She is joined by the fantastic Frankie Jordan and the magnificent Tom
Thumb Band.
"Raised with one foot in the folk circuit and the other in the urban
sprawl, RRR crosses between the spoken word and storytelling scenes in London
and across the UK, with immense skill and breathless conviction" (The
Times).

The next Gun & Spitroast
traditional music class is on Wednesday the
11th January. The tunes - The New Rigged Ship and Marthy (by special request)
- are on the website now.
We'll likely play a
couple of tunes from earlier classes to warm up, but the real work of the
evening will be to concentrate on the new tunes, which we'll play steadily
and slowly, only moving on to the next one when it seems right to do so.
We'll also spend some time thinking about how we can tackle the tunes and
make them lively, danceable and interesting.
Towards the end of the evening, we may retire to the bar for some rather more
informal sessioning!
We meet at the Gun & Spitroast pub at Horsmonden at 8pm on the second and
fourth Wednesdays of the month. The classes are free and all are welcome.
Download pdfs, abcs and access YouTubes of the tunes we're working with at:
