2. From Cat Kelly, a message re Folk Weekend Oxfolk and the ceilidh elements:

When the Oxford Folk Festival was cancelled in 2011, the local
community - determined not to sit at home on a sunny weekend in April
- pulled together to create a 'Folk Weekend' in its place. There were
street displays of Morris dancing, concerts and performances, a host
of free song and music events, and a huge ceilidh. A fabulous time was
had by all!

Building on this success, Folk Weekend will be returning on
20th-22nd
April 2012
. The festival will be based at the newly refurbished Old
Fire Station, with additional events in other venues throughout the
city centre. Tickets cost £46 for a weekend season (£40 concessions,
£30 youth). Day seasons and individual event tickets are also
available .  see website for full details.

Main ceilidh events:

Venue: Old Fire Station, George Street, Oxford

Friday 20th April - 8pm-11pm - £9/£6 - new band BeetRoot with caller
Hannah Bright

The best of rock grooves and folk rhythms, BeetRoot is a new ceilidh
band, formed of Richard Jones (accordion) and Chris Walshaw (pipes,
whistles, flute) from the Climax Ceilidh Band, and Jenny Newman
(fiddle), Andy Glass (guitar, bass pedal) and Pete Hemsley (drums)
from 3sticks. Folk Weekend is proud to host their debut performance at
the Friday night ceilidh!
-----------------
Saturday 21st April - 8pm-11pm - £9/£6 (subject to availability) -
Triptych with caller Barry Goodman

Triptych (pronounced 'Trip-tick') are a new ceilidh band who made
their debut at the Anchor gardens, as part of Sidmouth Folk Week 2011.
They draw their material from a variety of sources; largely English
and English-style tunes (including some self-penned), but their search
for awesome tunes has also taken them further in to Europe ˆ their set
list currently includes a waltz from Belgium and a Swedish schottis!
