It is a FREE event and will benefit musicians and artists alike.

ART to MUSIC – workshop

28 January 1.30pm – 4.30pm

Southampton City Art Gallery

All ages 15+ bring your own acoustic instrument
FREE but a space must be booked at the gallery on 023 80834536 (10am-4.30pm)

Painting as a score - canvas as graph of time.

Physical approach to medium- translating energy/approach to canvas into energy to instrument/sound

Looking/listening - when does one become another?

Personal responses to art - listening to yourself - making a choice about which painting - and transferring your own experience of the painting to sound/music.

A music composition workshop based on selected exhibition ART to DANCE artwork with international cellist composer Hannah Marshall (www.hannahmarshall.net).
Participants will be able to submit their short compositions as a sound file for possible inclusion in the exhibition’s return in autumn 2012.
