Subject: mailout 2nd February
This will be the last mailout before the Gainsborough Festival.
Any postal bookings received after Saturday 4th February will be
held on the desk (we will confirm receipt if there's a phone number or email address
we can use). Any received after Wednesday 8th will NOT be processed - we won't
be at home - and you will need to pay again at he desk (although we shall, of
course, destroy your extra payment or return the unused cheque).
***************************************
SITE ACCESS - we are STILL getting queries on this point - no
access to the school until 5:30 pm on the Friday. Remember it is a normal
school day so we have to keep clear until staff and pupils have left. Even the
organizers will only be there a few minutes before you! That affects
access to ANY part of the site not just the school buildings.
The Site Manager and his team have expressly requested the 5:30
access and they are unlikely to be happy if you try to get in earlier. We cannot
be responsible for their reactions!!!!!
We know that for many of you it is a long trip with uncertain
timings. However, please time your journey there to suit or explore the
revitalised centre of Gainsborough for a while. Or there's always Tesco's cafe!!

A sore Fingers update from John Wirtz:
It's the usual plea I'm afraid?
Sore Fingers Week takes place at the usual location Kingham Hill
School near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, 9th to 13th April, 2012 and
promises to be another classic event with a stellar line up of Bluegrass tutors
and Old time Tutors.
Of particular interest to FOAOTMAD mailout readers will be the
presence of Erynn Marshall (Old Time Fiddle) and Carl Jones (Old Time banjo).
As usual, I send out the pleading message that not enough people
are booking up to make these courses pay and surprisingly, Carl's course still
has a lot a of vacancies. Knowing Carl's popularity in this country, we
believed his class would fill up fairly quickly but that hasn't been the
case.
Erynn's class is looking reasonable but five or six more students
would certainly give it a boost.
So, if you are intending to get up to Kingham this year, we look
forward to receiving your booking form. And if you've never been before,
you should give it a try. It's probably one of the nicest musical
experiences you will have.
Full details are on the website at www.sorefingers.co.uk
Hope to see many of you at Sore Fingers Week 2012.

From Mark at Musically Monstrous:
The first, important thing to say is that due to some computer
issues I have lost my email contacts list except for a few new folk who came to
the last show and some others who I had details for elsewhere. Could I ask you
all to consider if you have contact details for anyone who has been to our
shows or is interested in the type of music we put on and forward this email to
them. Hopefully we will be able to rebuild some of the email contact list and
be able to continue as we have been doing.
Consequently, if you receive this as a forwarded email could you
please contact me (musicallymonstrous_at_talktalk_dot_net) and let me know if you
would like to receive future emails about old-time, bluegrass & Americana
music. Shows will generally be at The Three Horseshoes pub in Towersey nr
