Guitar and Banjo Player, FLOYD COLLINS

London
Closes Friday 3 February 2012 Paid (£10k-15k pro rata) Part time
Artform: combined arts, music, theatre
Contact: Tim Jackson timjackson86_at_gmail_dot_com

Description

I am looking for a Guitarist to double on Banjo for an upcoming production of FLOYD COLLINS by Tony and Drama Desk Award winning composer Adam Guettal at The Southwark Playhouse Vaults

Produced by Peter Huntley (www.peterhuntley.net)
Directed by Derek Bond
Choreographed by Richard Jones
Musically Directed by Tim Jackson

Dates: The run is 22nd Feb - 31st March (Mon - Fri  7.30pm, Sat 3pm and 7.30pm)

20th February sitzprobe in the afternoon

21st Feb technical rehearsal all day

22nd Feb dress rehearsal in the afternoon

The fee isn't massive so I’m looking for someone wanting pit experience, with the hope of using them again in the future (at better rates). The musical is highly considered in the musical theatre world and known as one of the most complex scores, and so it’s a particularly strong CV credit. The score is bluegrass-y but with firmly classical roots, sometimes operatic. The original cast recording is on Spotify. The Guitar/Banjo track is challenging and prominent, so I'm looking for a highly skilled player.

Floyd will be played by Glenn Carter, who played Jesus in the film of Jesus Christ Superstar and who was one of the original London 'Jersey Boys': www.glenncarter.com/biography.html

Nellie played by Robyn North - Christine in Phantom Of The Opera.
Homer played by Gareth Chart – Wicked, Mammia Mia film etc.

The show has been tipped by 4 national newspapers to be one of the shows to watch of 2012.

Please email timjackson86_at_gmail_dot_com asap for more info.
Deadline for applications 3rd February.
