Le QuecumBar International Gypsy Swing Guitar Festival 2010
celebrating to 100th Birthday of Django Reinhardt
200 minutes of sublime live highlights - bonus tracks interviews with Stochelo Rosenberg, Tcha Limberger and Biel Ballester.
A triple cd commemorative pack of recordings set over the nine night sold out festival (a first for London), that includes star soloists appearing on stage together for the first time; all passionate representatives of the essence of Gypsy swing. This pack captures the energy and passion of 34 exceptional musicians; global Gypsy players from 6 countries who united and gathered in London for one reason only, to play homage to the Gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt and to honour his 100th birthday.
Press review by Dave Gelly The Observer, Sunday 11 July 2010
"?This triple-CD set contains some truly astounding music. The sheer virtuosity often beggars belief, but it's the inventiveness and creative abandon in the playing of such masters of the genre as Lollo Meier and Sébastien Giniaux, and especially the multi-talented Tcha Limberger, that make these performances truly remarkable. I can't say "unbelievable", because I was there when some were recorded - at London's Le QuecumBar, back in January, at the festival to celebrate Django Reinhardt's centenary - and this was exactly how it came across at the time."
SONGLINES - SIMON BROUGHTON "This was music straight from the soul, played in the perfect setting ? one of London's hidden gems"
JAZZ PREVIEW.COM "This music has deep roots, but in its soulfulness, in the versatility of its imagination and in its sheer exuberance, the ability of Gypsy swing/jazz to charm and seduce audiences remains as powerful as ever. Prepare to be enchanted! "
LONDONNET.CO.UK "the biggest collection of Gypsy Swing talent in the UK ever."

Peter Golding..From busking the Paris streets to fashion designer?to playing USA blues cruises and clubs?his enthusiasm prevails. His CD included Mike Sanchez, Slim Jim Phantom and Otis Grand as special guests.- "Comfortable on both diatonic and chromatic harmonica his special style is at home on blues, swing or Gypsy jazz & his band Cafe Django" Paul Garner.. is one of the capital's most in-demand players, having recently recorded with blues legend Lazy Lester and stints with The Cadillac Kings and The Dirty Robbers.- "Arguably the most talented guitarist in London." Original Swing Trio like you never heard before!
BARTOUNE
Bartoune shakes up the traditional Gypsy-Jazz formula with their unusual trio, adding Baritone Sax to the Guitar and Double Bass combo.
Within such instrumentation, the classics are given a fresh sound, and the genre is bent in new directions with original tunes built on their combined backgrounds in jazz, blues and classical.
Smatterings of occasional Clarinet and Vocals bring diversity to their character, and the trio's distinct sound delivers swing jazz and beyond with both deftness and a sensitivity for the nuances of their art that transcends mere technical ability. The three have years of experience playing together, being also members of the inimitable Zen Hussies.
Formed in 2008, they have performed extensively on the Southwest and London circuit. Don't miss their debut night at Le Quecumbar, where they will surprise and captivate you with their fresh and unique interpretations- in the true spirit of Django!

MOSCOW DRUG CLUB
Is a curious musical place where certain elements of 1930's Berlin Cabaret, Hot Club de France, New Orleans Funeral Parade & Gypsy Campfire meet, have a few to drink and then stagger arm in arm into the darkness of some eastern European cobbled street on a mission to find the bar where Django Reinhardt & Tom Waits are having an after hours jam with the local Tziganes. Combining their original material with songs by the likes of Jaques Brel, Leornard Cohen, Tom Waits, Mario Lanza, Edith Piaf & Duke Ellington Moscow Drug Club provide an intoxicating & intimate musical experience. You are cordially invited to share a wry smile with us as you enter the darkly comic world of Moscow Drug Club?..this way please & mind the stairs!!!
