A collaborative Festival promoting womens' music, performance, literature and art from around the world

March 2012 sees the launch of Equator's WOW - Women of the World Festival, promoting international women performers, musicians, literature and art in Kent, London and Birmingham. The festival's Kent edition will run across three different venues in Ashford and Whitstable and will be staged on 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 31st March, featuring an eclectic mix of talented females from around the world, led by songstress Carmen Souza, Mor Karbasi and Coco Xpress.

WOW - Women of the World Festival coincide with March being International Women's Month. It is the brainchild of Priti Paintal, Artistic Director of ShivaNova (and co-director Robert Maycock) - the cutting edge arts organisation who specialise in world music. ShivaNova worked with girls and young women from a range of communities including its Girls Only Global Orchestra (GoGo) and in 2006 the idea of Women of the World Festival (WOW) was born.

Equator's WOW - Women of the World Festival Director, Priti Paintal says "Our Festival is about promoting women from around the world and highlighting the diversity of communities in this country. As a musician and composer myself I am acutely aware that the equation between men and women in the arts is not yet equal and hope this annual festival will help somewhat towards re-dressing this balance."
